The City of Harrison Streets Department maintains more than 45 miles of roadway. The department consists of 6 service personnel and 1 lead-man, who reports to the Public Works Director.
Streets Department responsibilities include building maintenance, crack seal and minor street repair, cross walk painting, dry well cleaning, inventory, repair and maintenance of all street signs, maintenance of city parks and Interstate 74 landscape, storm catch basin repair, street sweeping, snow removal, fall leaf pick-up and yard waste collection.
Yard Waste Disposal
On the last Saturday of each month, you can take yard waste to the Street Department yard at 510 Industrial Drive between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Curbside Leaf Pick Up
The City of Harrison typically begins curbside leaf pickup during the 3rd week of October.
Monday and Tuesday: Downtown Harrison from Kater Avenue north to Brooks Road and Biddle Heights.
Wednesday and Thursday: Whitewater Meadows from Etta Avenue south to Campbell Road.
Friday: Country View and Circle Drive area and Westbrook Estates. Harrison Avenue south to Campbell Road, Hickory Flats, Carolina Pines, Stone Ridge Way, Parks of Whitewater and Whitewater Trails Subdivisions.
In order to collect leaves more effectively, rake your leaves about 12 inches from the curb.
Curbside Christmas Tree Pick Up
The City of Harrison has curbside tree pickup during the month of January. The schedule is the same as the curbside leaf pick up.
