Close to 40 organizations participated in the City of Harrison 2021 Fourth of July parade led by Grand Marshal Dennis Helcher. Helcher retired from the Harrison Police Department in 2020 with 37 years of distinguished service.
Citizens lined the streets of the City's historic downtown district to watch the parade. Heist + CO was chosen as the Grand Marshal's choice for top parade float. LifeSpring Church received Mayor's Choice and the Noel Family received the Recreation Commission's choice.
Following the parade, revelers descended on the Harrison Community Center for live music, food and family activities. Caricature and balloon artists, face painters and magicians entertained the crowd. Cornhole enthusiasts participated in a tournament and a trophy was awarded to the winning duo. Miss Jacque, a local band, took the stage at 7 p.m. The evening culminated in a spectacular fireworks show that could be seen throughout the City and the surrounding area.
The Fourth of July celebration and many of the City's other events are planned by volunteers serving on the Harrison Recreation Commission.
