Three new businesses have opened and City of Harrison officials have been helping to welcome them into Harrison.
Smart Start Childcare opened at 10135 West Road. The brand-new facility is a second location for owners Haley and Alex Kummer. Smart Start offers a nursery for infants, toddler care, preschool and school age care. City officials, Chamber leaders and business ambassadors joined the Kummer family for a ribbon-cutting ceremony Feb. 7, which was followed by an open house later in the week.
Bliss Bridal and Formal also opened this month at 221 Harrison Avenue in the historic downtown district. The shop offers private bridal shopping experiences as well as formal and prom gowns Owner Nicole Rudisell also opened Pristine Beauty, just a few doors down in 2019. The Bliss team marked their grand opening with a series of special events including a ribbon-cutting with City and Chamber officials Feb. 15.
A second Dollar Tree store has opened at 10501 New Haven Road, next to Anytime Fitness. Dollar Tree originated in 1953 in Norfolk, Virginia and has more than 5,000 stores.
Four new businesses are expected to open this spring in the downtown district: On the Rocks (vodka and wine bar), Whitewater Weddings and Events (décor), CK’s Designs and Kreations (personalized gifts) and East Coast Eatz and Sweetz (food).
The City’s Economic Development, Building & Zoning Department supports companies with technical and financial programs, permits, plan reviews and building inspections.
