The City of Harrison's annual Christmas celebration Dec. 3 will have more activities than ever.

Fireworks Will Cap Off the Night

The major addition to the holiday festivities is an "extra special tree lighting" at 6:30 p.m. Mayor Bill Neyer will turn on the Christmas tree lights at the fire station, which will be followed by a brief, holiday themed fireworks show provided courtesy of Mercy Health. Additional support for the fireworks show was provided by The City and The District.

Historic Downtown Will be Bustling

Starting at 4 p.m. there will be food trucks, crafts for kids, and paint your own cookies. There will be a train display at Harrison Fire Department Station 56 (200 Harrison Ave.) in memory of Jim Robertson.

Many local shops and restaurants will be open for shopping and entertainment, including the Little Fern Shop, Party Barn Flowers, Lydia Jane, Ahead of the Curve, The Sweet Escape Room & Sweet Axe Throwing (Christmas Room - ELF themed), On the Rocks (OTR), 1860 Tap Room & Bottleshop, Many businesses are also collecting small, unwrapped toys for the Harrison Mayor's Community Fund. The Harrison Village Historical Society museum will also be open.

Parade A Bit Earlier This Year

The parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. The 2022 City of Harrison Annual Christmas Parade will be led by Grand Marshal Teri Hannon. The theme for the parade is "Elf."

The parade begins at the Harrison Community Center (300 George Street) and proceeds west on Broadway, north one block to State Street, and then east on Harrison Avenue to Washington. Streets will be closed to traffic for several hours.

Post-Parade Fun Planned

Activities following the parade include: pictures with Santa & Mrs. Claus at Custom Graphics and Tees (130 Harrison Ave.). There will also be a live nativity, train ride for kids, hot chocolate and cookies.
