Greater Harrison Chamber of Commerce will recognize four Harrison businesses and two non-nonprofit organizations with its annual awards. The Chamber is a membership organization that connects businesses of all sizes, industries and locations in Harrison and surrounding communities.

Brater-Winter Funeral Home, located on Vine Street, is the 2022 Greater Harrison Chamber Business of the Year. Paul Lutz started the business in 1945, which has seen several owners over the decades. The business has been owned by Jolene Winter since 2011.

Smart Start Childcare Owner Haley Kummer, who opened her second location on West Road in 2022, is this year’s Greater Harrison Rising Star. The award is given to a young professional who has had a positive impact on their workplace and community.

The Little Fern Shop, which opened in 2021 in Harrison’s historic downtown district, is the 2022 Greater Harrison Emerging Business of the Year. The Chamber noted Owner Jill Treas is attracting shoppers to The District with her on-trend goods and also providing space for local makers and vendors to sell.

1860 Taproom & Bottleshop, also in The District, is the recipient of the 2022 Greater Harrison Corporate Community Excellence Award. This recognition is reserved for a business that gives back. 1860 has contributed thousands of dollars to community groups through its CommUNITY Tap Handle.

Southwest Local School District is the 2022 Greater Harrison Innovator of the Year. The Chamber selected the school district for its work in creating credentialing programs that prepare students for work right after high school. The school district includes six schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 12.

Reach Out Pregnancy Center is the 2022 Greater Harrison Chamber Non-Profit of the Year for its work to help families succeed. Located on Broadway Street, Reach Out has a range of no-cost services and has initiated a new program to help new dads be their best.

The honorees will be recognized at a reception Feb. 23, 2023. The event will also commemorate the Chamber’s 10th anniversary. More information about the event is available on the Chamber website.

Greater Harrison Chamber of Commerce was established in 2013 to promote growth and prosperity in one of the fastest growing corners of Hamilton County. The Chamber provides networking, learning and cost-saving opportunities to businesses and organizations in Harrison, Ohio and the surrounding communities.
