The City of Harrison Recreation Improvement Committee has launched a survey to understand what recreational amenities they consider most important. Every resident of the City is invited to take the survey once either online or in print. Hard copies are available at the Harrison Community Center (300 George Street) and the survey can be taken online at this link.
When the survey is completed, results will be shared and used by the Recreation Improvement Committee. Projects will be funded by the Community Recreation Fund. During the past 10 years, the City has collected more than $800,000 in that fund. Half the money has been collected from homebuilders. The other half has been matched with City funds over the same period.
There are some stipulations about how the Recreation funds can be used. The money must be used on physical improvements of recreational amenities. The improvements must be on the grounds of the Community Center. Qualifying options are listed on the survey.
The City has provided an FAQ regarding the survey and the Recreation Improvement Committee. Residents are encouraged to sign up for email or text notifications on the City website to get updates about this and other City news. A video about the survey is also being shown on community access channels. The video is linked below.
