The court is held in the city council chambers of the Harrison Community Center, which is located at

3. If we have to turn in a writing assignment where does it go?

Usually it’s most convenient to drop it off at the police department, Monday through Friday during business hours, 8 a.m. to Midnight. However, you may choose to mail it to:

4. Are there any fines?

No! The court makes no financial profits.

5. What if we are unable to attend the assigned court date?

Usually the arresting officer will clarify that the assigned court date is okay with you, however, sometimes situations arise and you are unable to attend. If this is the case, each case is entitled to one continuance. Contact the Harrison Police Department, and/or, Officer Seiter for a reassignment of your court date.

6. If my child is placed on house arrest are they allowed to attend family functions, work, church, etc.?

Yes! In fact, those activities are encouraged by the court.

7. What if my child does not follow the referee’s orders?

Notify Officer Seiter at the Harrison Police Department. He will then cite your child to the Hamilton County Juvenile Court, downtown.

*Please reinforce to your child that should the case be transferred down to the Hamilton County Juvenile Court, they could be subjected to fines, state mandated driver license suspensions or incarceration.

8. Do we need an attorney?

Your child has the right to an attorney and will be granted a continuance to obtain legal counsel if you request it.

9. Does the referee court handle traffic tickets?

No, all traffic citations are cited to the Hamilton County Juvenile Traffic Court.

10. If my child fills out a job application, do they have say they have ever been arrested?

No, the Harrison Juvenile Referee Court is an unofficial record.

11. Does the City of Harrison have a curfew ordinance?

Yes! Juveniles, 16 and 17, may not be anyplace in the city, away from their residence from Midnight to 6 a.m. Juveniles under the age of 16 may not be anyplace in the city away from their residence from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

*Exceptions – Juveniles accompanied by a parent or guardian, or, juveniles participating in or returning from employment, athletic, educational or religious events.

The Harrison Juvenile Referee Court exists to make this experience one which will benefit your child, your family as a whole and ultimately, the community.
